Sighisoara

Sighisoara a beautiful 15th Century medieval town situated on a hilltop and comprised of a mixture of cobbled streets, towers and battlements. It is straight out of folklore and a town that will both inspire and charm it’s visitors. A UNESCO World Heritage site Sighisoara is definitely well worth a visit and for those interested in Dracula, Sighisoara is a must on your list of places to visit as Vlad Tepes (aka Count Dracula) was born here.

Sighisoara has a rich and colorful history ranging from it’s formation as a Saxon fortress, it’s rise to most important city in Transylvania and it’s hub of artisans and craftsmen. The city was the setting for George I Rakoczi’s election as Prince of Transylvania and King of Hungary in 1631. It suffered military occupation, fire and plagues yet is still one of the prettiest places to visit in Romania.
