The Lynx is one of the most elusive animals in Europe, but Romania and the Carpathian mountains in particular, offer you a fantastic opportunity to spot one of these gracious creatures. With as much as 30% of the European Lynx thought to be prowling in the shadows of this stunning landscape, this is the place to come to have a chance of seeing one of these beautiful animals in the wild. Exceptionally camouflaged and primarily hunting at night, seeing a lynx in the wild is a unique and impressive achievement so be prepared for a challenge, but with the assistance of our expert local trackers you actually have relatively high chances of seeing this elegant feline with a 40% success rate. You will also have the chance to stare into the mysterious eyes of the grey wolf as there are an impressive number of these carnivores throughout the Carpathian Mountains. With the an array of prey such as the red deer the numbers of wolfs has thrived.

Tracking both these animals is a real covert operation as both spend much of their time hunting at night and sleeping during the day, so expect to spend some of time creeping round the woods with only the moonlight to guide you.
